Depending on your individual needs, you may need to add supplements or high-nutrition snacks into your diet plan as well.

Improve Eating Habits and Exercise Regularly

It is also important to incorporate healthy eating habits and regular exercise after gastric sleeve surgery. Exercise can help to speed up your recovery and improve your overall health, as well as provide a boost of energy that can make it easier to stick with your new healthier lifestyle. She lost 150 pounds in 16 months and completely changed her lifestyle. Desperate to get better, Christine, a food addict decided to have a gastric bypass surgery and embarked on a fitness journey. She then got a tummy tuck to get rid of the extra skin and breast implants.

Sadly, it seems her partner, unhappy with his girlfriend’s new gained confidence, got jealous and possessive which led to the relationship breakdown. Her amazing story proves that anyone can take control of their lives and health and it’s never too late to get in the best shape of your life.

‘My ex was very controlling, told me what to wear and I believe he wanted me to be fat so that I wouldn’t leave him. He also didn’t like me having me own friends.

‘Being overweight, I didn’t feel I deserved anything better – I went from a place of being “fat and happy” to just “fat”.

‘It was taking a major toll on my body and instead of dealing with my feelings I was eating them.’

After trying many different types of diet, Christine decided to get Vertical Gastric Sleeve surgery.
Christine recent picture: Doctors removed 70 percent of her stomach, helping her drop 50 pounds.

According to Christine: ‘I started gaining the weight back, like many weight loss surgery patients do.

‘The weight loss surgery is only a tool. I had a wake-up call when I realised I was going to be a weight-loss surgery failure.

‘Not even this extreme measure could save me. There was a moment in time where I realised I have to change.’

Christine needed a long term solution and found a coach at Hero Training Center, who help guided her on diet, fitness, and her mental well-being.

Surgeons removed 70 per cent of her stomach, helping her shift 50lbs in August 2014.

Christine added: ‘Weight loss has changed everything about my life.

‘I am not the same girl I once was. It ended my relationship – my ex became very insecure and jealous and I gained the confidence to see that I was not in a healthy relationship and needed to get out.

‘It also helped me progress in my career. Opportunities present themselves to me daily that I would not have if I was overweight.

‘You see, I don’t think it was the weight loss that changed me, but the weight gain.

‘As the pounds came off, I slowly but surely uncovered the confident, dedicated, hardworking woman that was there all along but that was too shy and afraid to be exposed.

‘When I see old photos of myself, I literally don’t recognize them.

‘I have so many things I want to share with people who want to lose weight but people should pick one bad habit-and fix the one thing.

‘By committing even this one tiny thing, it begins to build confidence and trust in yourself that you can and you will do what you say you are going to do.

‘Learn to love the struggle, and the results will come.’

What Exactly is Gastric Sleeve Surgery?

Gastric sleeve operation is a kind of bariatric surgery that can be performed on obese patients who want to reduce weight. The new weight loss surgery makes the body lose excess fat with multi-port laparoscopic surgery that helps surgeons use 3 or 4 small incisions instead of just one. This way, the patient is less pain after gastric sleeve surgery diet, and their recovery time is much shorter.

The gastric sleeve is created by dividing the stomach into two segments, one larger than the other, then folding over the more minor part to create a thin tube or ‘sleeve.’ This leaves about 85% of the original stomach volume. When you eat your food, you will feel full and satisfied more quickly.

Lifestyle Changes After Gastric Sleeve Surgery

Great transformation results are not guaranteed after Gastric Sleeve Surgery, and largely depend on the patient’s willingness and ability to live this new lifestyle day in and day out.

Our lifestyle changes after having a gastric sleeve operation can benefit our health and our self-esteem. We want to explore some of the habits we may have developed over the years, which encourage us to overeat and make suggestions on how to change those habits for a healthier future.

Many of us have emotional attachments to food. As long as we eat foods that are bad for our health, it is difficult to motivate ourselves to change them into healthier foods. We must understand where this comes from to make lasting changes in how we treat our bodies with proper nourishing foods.

Habits Led To Obesity

Often, we develop bad habits at an early age and will continue to make them even when they lead us to obesity. We must try and change these habits if we want to be healthy again. Some of the bad habits that may instruct us to become obese include:

Eating When You Are Not Hungry

When you eat when you are not hungry, your body does not get the nutrients it needs to function correctly. In some cases, overeating leads to weight gain and obesity. Those who continue to develop this habit will find it difficult to reduce their weight as they gain more pounds over the years.

Treat Yourself By Treating Your Body

You should reward yourself by nourishing your body with healthy foods. Treat yourself to a nice dinner of lean meat, vegetables, and fruit. Eat the most nutritious foods you can find, some that may be more costly than other junk foods at the store

Your New Diet After Gastric Sleeve Surgery:

Avoid Foods That Are High In Fat

Your new diet after the Gastric Sleeve surgery requires you to limit the amount of fat you consume. Avoid fatty foods, fried foods, and oily foods as they can cause injury to your new stomach.

Eat smaller meals and chew the food properly before swallowing it to give enough time for digestion. You should try eating at least 4-5 small meals instead of 3 large ones.

It is best to avoid high-fat dairy products like cheese, whole milk, and butter. Eat plenty of vegetables, fruits, and whole grains as they provide all the essential nutrients and vitamins and can be easily digested.

Whole-grain bread, cereals, and rice must be included in your diet as they are low on fat and calories. You can have brown rice as a replacement for white rice as it is rich in fiber, make you fuller for long hours and suitable for your digestive system.

Other food groups like lean meat, eggs, fish can also be taken part of your new healthy diet.

Before and After Gastric Sleeve Surgery Excess Skin

People want to look younger because they believe that it will make them feel better about themselves. Patients who undergo skin-tightening procedures say their skin looks plumper and less wrinkled even if the actual signs of aging haven’t disappeared.

People age because of sagging skin. Gastric sleeve patients surgery techniques can tighten or remove this skin, giving the person a more youthful appearance.

Doctors usually perform skin-tightening procedures by removing excess skin or tightening skin that has become slack over time after a weight loss surgery.

Surgeons use either of these methods to give their patients a more youthful look by making their skin tighten or remove any extra bags under the eyes they may have.

Tips to Minimize Stomach Excess Skin after Bariatric Surgery

One of the more common postsurgical complaints after bariatric surgery is “stretching” or “baggy” abdomen.
Stomach stretching can occur during an unpropitious time, such as before a special event, or it may happen gradually but rapidly enough to cause alarm.

While some degree of stomach stretching is expected and considered normal after an extensive weight loss procedure such as gastric sleeve, significant bloating can be a source of distress both physically and psychologically.
Identifying the cause is essential to resolving or preventing stomach stretching.

The most common causes are scarring from previous abdominal surgeries (such as C-section, hernia repair, etc.), gastritis (swelling of the stomach lining), and ulcers.

Less common causes include irritable bowel syndrome, diabetes mellitus, celiac sprue, Crohn’s disease, or other GI disorders such as adhesions that restrict expansion of the stomach.

As it is challenging to monitor the stretching of the stomach on a day-to-day basis, patients are encouraged to keep a journal during the initial post-operative period.

The following guidelines may help reduce stretching or bloating:

1) Avoid tight clothing and belts
2) Maintain good hydration – drink at least eight glasses of water per day
3) Eat smaller meals
4) Eat smaller amounts of food at one time
5) Avoid high-fat foods (fried, red meats, etc.) and simple carbohydrates (sugary foods or refined grains such as white bread and kinds of pasta)
6) Avoid carbonated beverages
7) Avoid alcohol and tobacco products
8) Take antacids as directed by your physician
9) Exercise regularly
10) Avoid vigorous exercise in the post-operative period and in hot, humid weather. If you must exercise in such conditions, drink more fluid 1-2 hours before to prevent dehydration
11) Begin a low fiber diet gradually to avoid additional bloating or cramping

Patients who have a history of hernia repair may notice an increased incidence of stomach stretching due to scarring. The restriction in expansion from the operative procedure prevents the abdomen from hurting, leading to persistent bloating and discomfort. In these people, addressing the issue by having a revisionary process such as a “purse-string” or “TEP” may be helpful.

Adjustments in eating habits and medication dosage also play a role in reducing discomfort from stomach stretching.

It is important to recall that everyone responds differently, and trial and error may be necessary to achieve the desired results. Patients should always consult their bariatric surgeon regarding any concerns they may have.

Kayli Gastric Before and After Pics – The difference 1 year can make

“The difference 1 year can make!!”

“This time last year, I was too big to wear my company’s unisex scrubs. Instead, they allowed me to wear a polo & jeans.. do y’all know how embarrassing that was to ask!! Fast forward to today & im wearing a size M in both top & bottoms!! Like omg!! Never thought I’d see this day????????

Finally getting back in the groove of things & traveling like crazy! My suitcase never gets “put away” because I’m in a different city every week! Covering 6 states for work has its adventure perks.. but I sure do miss the consistency of being at home.

I have started packing TONS of snacks with me so I don’t go for the quick, easy alternatives on the road. For me, preparation is KEY????! After all, failure to plan is planning to fail!”
