The 44 year old actor Phoenix took celebrity transformation to the extreme. From fat to fit, he took only couple of months to lose 52 pounds. Experts say to safely losing 52 pounds would typically take at least a year.

Phoenix accepted the joker role in July 2018 and he began filming in September of the same year which is insane.

Markey, a psychology professor at Rutger’s University who has studied eating disorders “It’s problematic for anyone to be expected to lose this much weight this quickly. It’s going to be unhealthy physically and psychologically”

Which is what happened to Phoenix. Phoenix’s reported feelings of fatigue, social distancing, and obsessiveness about food and weight are all symptoms of eating disorders.

Phoenix explained to AP that he was obsessed over even tiny change in weight. “So much of what’s difficult is waking up every day and being obsessed over, 0.3 pounds. Right? And you really develop a disorder,”

However, before undergoing an extreme body transformation. Phoenix had a doctor by his side that ensure his health wasn’t put at risk.

Oddly Phoenix said the weight loss gave him the confidence to dig deep into Joker’s character and persona.

“I felt like I could move my body in ways that I hadn’t been able to before. And I think that really lent itself to some of the physical movement that started to emerge as an important part of the character,”

Phoenix extreme measure was nominated for 11 Academy Awards. “As it turns out, that impacts your psychology,” he said, “and you really start to go mad when you lose that much weight in that amount of time.”

Jared Leto

Jared Leto was already someone who is pretty skinny. So, it’s hard to comprehend that he had any body fat percentage left. After he dropped 40 pounds for his role in the movie Dallas Buyers Club. In the movie he plays a transsexual woman named Rayon who was HIV positive.

How did Jerrod do this? Like 50 cent. His methods weren’t the healthiest. He admitted that at one point he pretty much stopped eating and he dropped down to 114 pounds. Jared admits that it was a difficult thing to do.

The actor and singer is no stranger to changing his body dramatically for roles. He gained weight for the 2007 film chapter 27, where he played Mark David Chapman, also known as the man who we know ended the life of John Lennon. This was going from dramatic weight gain to an even more dramatic weight loss.

Jared was hoping to have a bit of a spiritual awakening from the fasting since that’s a common practice throughout history

Daniel Craig

“I don’t I start training about I have six months before we start shooting and then and then I think continually what’s lucky about it is that we plan out the sort of shirtless scenes quite carefully so I can sort of D carve and do all that so you’re really boring stuff and then the rest of the time I just eat me drink what I want just try and stay in shape.”

“I just hit the gym I you know started pumping weights and I started you know getting fit because I knew I had to get in shape for the job otherwise I wouldn’t have got through it and you know the sort of byproduct of that is sort of looking they’re bigger and beefier but I I wanted that even if it took his shirt off I wanted to look like he’d he was capable of doing what he was doing.”

Chris Patt

“I only ate turkey, just eat turkey with gravy everyday. That the problem people want to know what’s the secret is? The secret is you can’t do it in a month, it takes eight months or a year or lifetime. It’s consistency working out every single day and eating properly and truly feeding yourself not starving yourself. Giving yourself the proper nutrition to heal. Burn off all the crap you put in your body and then you have to replace it with really good food and fuel.”

Chris Hemsworth

“eating was always the difficult part and various animal protein. The difficult more than the actual filming ,my body doesn’t sit naturally at that weight consuming many many calories and protein. Working out six days a week”

Tom Hardy

“I was lifting everyday. And we were contemplating while eating chicken and broccoli, this was rubbish, it was horrible and unnecessary, I don’t know why anybody does this for a living.”

Chris Evans (Captain America training)

“it was a couple hours a day. It was brutal, the trip part was eating all the time. It sounds nice but it’s not like eating cheeseburger all the time. Chicken and rice is not that appetizing. It’s pretty uncomfortable.”

“everytime they yell cut, I’d run off set and they brought some weights on a set for me so everytime we had a break I’d run off and start lifting weights. As the results your pretty much working out the entire day, for multiple days.”

Hugh Jackman (Wolverine role)

“The Wolverine diet is strict. It has about 4000 calories a day, maybe 4 and a half cause I’m bulking up. Always protein, 6 times a day, steam vegetables, and occasion brown rice.”

“I had to be in peak condition for the role. I went on a water dehydration diet so I can be as ripped and cut as possible. Twenty to thirty hours of not drinking any water and I had a nasty headache. You start cranking up.”

“Basically I trained for three hours a day and eat a lot of food. I actually got the diet from Dwayne “the Rock” Johnson.

Brad Pitt

“I’m one of those people you hate because of genetics. It is the truth.”

Ryan Reynolds (Blade Trinity role)

“you have to be able to lift people over your head and throw them around. I’m a blood sucking vampire! My chest feels like somebody just drove a truck over it. It’s a fourteen to fifteen hour day to get up at 4:30 in the morning to lift weights for 2 hours and then go to work all day.”

“I have a discipline that has served me very well in my career and in my personal life, and that’s gotten stronger as I’ve gotten older”

“Just like how Superman discover stigma and learned that he could fly. I discover that I can do all sorts of things in the gym which I’d never thought possible. I went past my limits, the ability to crush in the gym, I can’t walk out properly and I feel horrible. I feel sick but still want to come back. It’s not the kind of training which makes you look pretty. It’s the kind of training which first and foremost is useful. You could push way beyond your boundaries but I wouldn’t recommend doing it all the time, unless you have someone knowledgeable guiding you then you could.”

Joe Manganiello (Magic Mike role)

“I work out twice a day 6 days a week when I’m training for Magic Mike or for any other project I have. If you want to put on empty weight – eat empty food. I would say I eat to build. So I work very hard in the gym and I eat a lot of protein in order to provide me with the building blocks to maximize that training. There’s no sugar, no alcohol. You have to cut out a lot of that fun delicious stuff that most people like.”

“I spent the past 25 years, two-thirds of my life searching out the best trainers on the planet, the best methods on the planet, I did this completely natural no steroids, no human growth hormone. I was not born genetically to put on muscle, I was cursed with long limbs but somehow I found a way to do it. I got into powerlifting, I got into traditional Olympic lifts.”

Christian Bale (Batman role)

“I was just stuffing my face all day long and lifting heavy weights eating more and eventually went up to like 220 pounds. I just listen to what they said about get as big as you possibly can, so that’s what I did you know but I was kinda like a bear, I wasn’t really like martial arts guy all lean and ripped and everything like that. I had to cut down.”
