Phoenix accepted the joker role in July 2018 and he began filming in September of the same year which is insane.

Markey, a psychology professor at Rutger’s University who has studied eating disorders “It’s problematic for anyone to be expected to lose this much weight this quickly. It’s going to be unhealthy physically and psychologically”

Which is what happened to Phoenix. Phoenix’s reported feelings of fatigue, social distancing, and obsessiveness about food and weight are all symptoms of eating disorders.

Phoenix explained to AP that he was obsessed over even tiny change in weight. “So much of what’s difficult is waking up every day and being obsessed over, 0.3 pounds. Right? And you really develop a disorder,”

However, before undergoing an extreme body transformation. Phoenix had a doctor by his side that ensure his health wasn’t put at risk.

Oddly Phoenix said the weight loss gave him the confidence to dig deep into Joker’s character and persona.

“I felt like I could move my body in ways that I hadn’t been able to before. And I think that really lent itself to some of the physical movement that started to emerge as an important part of the character,”

Phoenix extreme measure was nominated for 11 Academy Awards. “As it turns out, that impacts your psychology,” he said, “and you really start to go mad when you lose that much weight in that amount of time.”

Jared was hoping to have a bit of a spiritual awakening from the fasting since that’s a common practice throughout history

“I just hit the gym I you know started pumping weights and I started you know getting fit because I knew I had to get in shape for the job otherwise I wouldn’t have got through it and you know the sort of byproduct of that is sort of looking they’re bigger and beefier but I I wanted that even if it took his shirt off I wanted to look like he’d he was capable of doing what he was doing.”

Burn off all the crap you put in your body and then you have to replace it with really good food and fuel.”

I went past my limits, the ability to crush in the gym, I can’t walk out properly and I feel horrible. I feel sick but still want to come back. It’s not the kind of training which makes you look pretty. It’s the kind of training which first and foremost is useful. You could push way beyond your boundaries but I wouldn’t recommend doing it all the time, unless you have someone knowledgeable guiding you then you could.”

You have to cut out a lot of that fun delicious stuff that most people like.”

“I spent the past 25 years, two-thirds of my life searching out the best trainers on the planet, the best methods on the planet, I did this completely natural no steroids, no human growth hormone.
